When choosing an RC car, scale is one of the easiest ways to understand its approximate size. From large 1:10 models to ultra-compact 1:76 micro RC cars, different scales are designed for different spaces and driving experiences.

What Does RC Scale Mean?

RC scale compares a model with the size of the real vehicle it represents. A 1:10 model is approximately one-tenth the size of the full-size vehicle, while a 1:64 model is much smaller.

In general, the larger the number after the colon, the smaller the model.

1:10 – Large & Outdoor

1:10 models are larger and are commonly suited for outdoor driving, off-road terrain and larger spaces.

If you have plenty of room and want a larger, more substantial RC experience, 1:10 is a popular choice.

1:18 – Versatile & Portable

1:64 and 1:76 models are small enough for desktops, tables and compact indoor tracks. They're especially well suited for micro drifting, indoor racing and casual driving.

Scale Isn't Everything

Scale doesn't tell you the exact dimensions of an RC vehicle. A 1:64 sports car and a 1:64 SUV can still have different dimensions because their full-size vehicles are different sizes.

Before buying, always check the product's actual length, width, height and wheelbase.

For upgrades and replacement parts, make sure they are compatible with your specific model rather than relying on scale alone.
